the SIMS family

Ernie Sims, Jr

Ernie, grew up in Tampa, Florida where he was a high school football All American at Thomas Jefferson High School.  He landed a football scholarship at Florida State University, while at FSU he failed on hard times and quickly realized he needed a spiritual change in his life. While back in Tampa, Ernie accepted Christ as His Lord and Savior and returned back to FSU the next year to play football and finish his degree.  Ernie accepted the calling to preach and quickly begin to do street preaching in FSU Student Union and working with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).  Ernie and Alice met at FSU and got married and immediately worked to impact students in their local church and the community at large. They have planted two churches in the Tallahassee and Quincy area.  Now that they have been married for over 34 years, Alice and Ernie has reached thousands of youth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and remain on fire for their Lord.

Alice B. Sims

Alice came to know the Lord at 16 years of age and God really did a special work in her life.  She's was a great athlete in all sports in High School and a  fierce competitor.  Alice met Ernie her senior year at FSU and a year later they got married.   Alice and Ernie have four wonderful children (Ernie, Marcus, Latonya, and Mike).  Alice is a wonderful mother and wife.  She is known in the Tallahassee area as the mentoring “Queen.” She has her fingerprints on many youth programs and currently serves as the Assistant Secretary of Prevention and Victim Services at the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.  She also has served as the Assistant Director of The WAY Ministries of Tallahassee since 1994.  She has many accomplishments, one being a seven time All-American in Track and Field at Florida State University.

our beliefs

our beliefs

About the Bible

We believe that the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were guided by the Holy Spirit to write every word of Scripture.  Therefore, the Bible is without error and is the basis for all Christian beliefs and behavior.

About the Holy Spirit

We Believe that the Holy Spirit is the Promise of the Father, Our Comforter sent to convict the world of sin, place the believer in the Body of Christ, in-dwell the believer and bestow spiritual gifts to the church.

About Baptism

We believe the ordinances of the church, by command of Christ, are water baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper, both of which are administered to those who are born again

About Communion

Unlike Baptism, which is a onetime event, Holy Communion is a practice that is meant to be observed over and over throughout the life of a Christian.

About Mankind

We believe that man was created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him, but all are alienated from that relationship through sin.  As a result, man is totally incapable of a right relationship with God by his own effort.

About Salvation

We believe that God the Father sent his son, the Lord Jesus to die on the cross for our sins and that his shed blood provides the sole basis for our forgiveness. Therefore, salvation can only occur when people place their faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ as the sufficient payment for their sins.

About the Rapture

We believe that the future period referred to as the tribulation, will be climaxed by the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to the earth with power and great glory; at which time He shall establish His millennial kingdom.  However prior to the tribulation, we believe there will be the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ in the air to receive to Himself in Heaven his own; those who are alive and who have died (inclusive of the resurrection) in Christ Jesus.

About Eternal Security

We believe that because God gives man eternal life through Jesus Christ, the believer is secure in that salvation for eternity.  Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian.
